ExplanationsWhy don't you have stuff from other people? My website has always been my soapbox, and I never really wanted to change that for Silver and Gold. Why Bakura? While Yuugiou is no Evangelion, it's nonetheless an appealing show. However, my first impressions were unflattering, and Bakura was largely responsible for starting my interest in the series and other characters. Small wonder, when I consider him a character I identify with (in an abstract way) and can create my own image of him. Though a secondary character, Bakura provokes such interesting ideas that I wanted to write them down, even when they seemed to have no foundation. More than anything else, this site is dedicated to my own ideas about Bakura, and to a smaller extent, his Yami. And the title?I might change it later, but it's simple. Silver and gold refers to Bakura's hair color (that he shares with two other anime characters I like), and the color of his Millennium Item. Not particularly clever, but... *shrug* And unfortunately, the browser-friendly "silver" didn't show up too well against my background, so I used white instead. Are you nuts? Yuugiou is just a stupid kids' show!Bah. Whole fandoms have been built around "stupid kids' shows", and I daresay some are populated by intelligent, devoted people, though I don't know about me. Either way, I had these ideas and I want to express them. I know what Yuugiou is, a kid's anime, and what most people see it as, a card commercial with flat characters and silly concepts. I never claimed what's here is anything but psuedointellectual babble, or that it has anything to do with Takahashi's original intentions. How can you hate Yami Bakura?By harboring venemous feelings towards the character :) Read Yami Bakura for more. I've nothing against those who like him, but won't change my site to suit them. However, since Yami Bakura's story is part of Bakura's, I have to include YB in several parts of this site. How can you like his dub voice?Suffice it to say, even with the English accent and poor acting, I just like its sound. What happened to the dub bio this site used to have?It went down the toilet as soon as I got my hands on the bootleg subs of the Japanese version. I'd already acknowledged that the Japanese version had a better plot and atmosphere, but needed a solid body of material before writing a bio based on it. The HK subs aren't the best things to use, but they're the only thing bar the dub. But that doesn't change that I still like Bakura's dub voice best, and will probably write from that version if I ever do anymore fanfic. Generally I use Japanese order (surname first) for YGO characters of Japanese descent, and for production staff.Would you consider yourself a Bakura fangirl? No.Which couples do you support?I confess to recently discovering a certain appeal in BakuraxYuugi, at times, which might later develop into a full-blown interest in the pairing. I'm more clinical than most when it comes to picking favorite couples, so don't expect much even if this plays through.Who the heck are you?"Who" would take too long. What I am is a Canadian woman who's interested in anime, writing, psychology, and whatnot. When it comes to Yuugiou, I love the Duelist Kingdom dub, but think it went down the crapper when Battle City came about. I collect the cards purely for aesthetics and/or their connection with my favorites. Besides Bakura, my favorites in the series are Kaiba Seto (sub or dub will do), Mutou Yuugi (same), Yami Yuugi (same), Malik Ishtar, Jounouchi Katsuya/Joey Wheeler, Mako Tsunami/Kajiki Ryouta, and Maximillion Pegasus/Pegasus J. Crawford. On the opposite end is Yami Bakura (bitch, ain't it?), Duke Devlin/Otogi Ryuuji, Weevil/Insector, "Bandit" Keith Howard, dub-Malik (aka Marik) and Yami Malik. Oh, yeah, my name's Amanda.Return to main |
